Immersive Experience — Tekniska Museet / Wisdome

Dome Lab

What makes you human, your question or your response?

I was selected as one of fifteen creatives for an experimental dome lab course at Tekniska Museet/Wisdome, working with TouchDesigner and Ableton under mentorship by Nicole Chufi. The finished works were showcased at the Dome Dreaming festival, May 2026.

I was part of the interactive team. Our contribution introduced the use of the audience's own phones into the dome experience. Scanning the QR code brought them to Riddle.exe: a 90s Windows-style website where they could meet the cyber oracle and answer a riddle. I built the QR code integration and the website.

Working in the dome introduced a spatial design problem that flat-screen tools don't prepare you for. Translating a 2D composition into a hemispherical surface means rethinking proportion entirely. Human bodies distort at the edges of the field of view, and what looks balanced on a monitor can feel alien overhead.

Directionality and movement take on a different quality in an immersive environment. Where something moves, how fast, and from which origin point become choreographic decisions with real physical impact on the audience beneath as the dome goes beyond a mere display. The viewer is truly immersed and enveloped.

The oracle got some good answers. And working with TouchDesigner and Ableton opened up a spatial vocabulary I want to keep exploring.
